The annual percentage rates are again based on the prime rate, published in The Wall Street Journal. The World Amtrak Guest Rewards MasterCard has a purchase annual percentage rate of 14.24%, the same as the percentage rate for balance transfers. For the Platinum card the percentage is either 16.24% or 19.24% depending on the applicant’s credit record. These percentages are applicable to the balance transfers as well. Cash advances and overdraft advances are charged with an annual percentage rate of 19.24% for both types of cards.

Penalty APR will be applied in cases of infringements of the cardholder agreement. Such as late payments, returned payments or exceeding the credit limit, imposed to the card. In such cases the annual percentage rate will increase up to 29.99%. The increase will be indefinitely.

Penalty fees are required when a cardholder makes a violation of the agreement. These include a penalty fee for failure to make a payment when it is due, a fee for a payment which has been returned unpaid, fee for returned check and for excess of the credit limit.  The penalty fees are dependable on the number of violations committed by the card member. For a single violation of any type the fee is $25. If another one is committed within 6 months the fee will increase to $35. Only the World Amtrak Guest Rewards MasterCard is free from over-the-credit-limit fee.

The transaction fees required for this type of credit card are standard for Chase. For balance transfers the cardholder owes at least $5 or 3% of the sum. For cash advances the fee is the greater of $10 or 3% of the amount and for any foreign transaction it is 3% of sum.

HYATT CREDIT CARD

Features of the Hyatt credit card

When offered the Hyatt credit card comes with an annual percentage rate for purchases and balance transfers of 15.24%. This percentage depends on the prime rate. The prime rate is the highest prime loan rate found in the money section of The Wall Street Journal. This rate is a subject of change since the prime rate may vary. The card requires an annual membership fee of $75, which is payable once every year. Other types of transactions which are a subject of an annual percentage rates are cash and overdraft advances. For these types the APR is 19.24%. Make note that in some states overdraft advances may not be available.

There are some reasons when the annual percentage rate will increase. Such reasons include failing to make a payment when a payment is due, or making a payment which has been returned unprocessed or any of the above done on another account the cardholder has with Chase. In any of these cases a penalty APR will be applied and it is 29.99% for all existing balances in the account. This increase will remain until at least the minimum payment is paid every due date for 6 billing periods in a row. The due date is on the 21st day after closing of the billing cycle. A way to avoid paying interest on purchases is to pay the entire outstanding balance from the last billing period by the time the minimum payment is due. However, cardholders should be aware of the company’s policy of payment allocation, which allows them to allocate payments from balances with lower APR to balances with higher APR. So the balances with the highest annual percentage rates will be paid first. This may result in the cardholder losing the priority to avoid interest.

For the violations of the cardholder agreement which were described above the account owner is required to pay a penalty fee as well. The penalty fees are up to $35, which means for a single violation the cardholder owes $25 penalty fee, but if he/she makes another violation within 6 billing periods, the penalty fee will increase up to $35. Late payments, returned checks and returned payments are a subject of a penalty fee.

One of the benefits of this credit card is that foreign transactions are free of charge. For the other types of transactions, the card members are required to pay a transaction fee. Balance transfers are charged with the largest of $5 or 3% of the amount. As for cash advances, the minimum transaction fee will be $10, if it is more it will be 3% of the sum in question.

Benefits of the Hyatt Credit Card

Such violations include late payments, exceeding the credit limit, payments which have not been processed and have been returned. The penalty annual percentage rate is 29.99% and will apply to all balances in the account. However, if the cardholder sends at least the minimum payment on time for 6 consecutive billing periods after the late payment the penalty APR will be terminated and the normal rate will apply.

When it comes to violations of terms fees are also applicable. Late payments are charged with a penalty fee of up to $35. Returned checks or payments and over-the-credit-limit fees are the same in amount. For Signature Visa cards fees for exceeding your credit limit do not apply.

This means that the annual percentage rate is a subject of change with any changes of the prime rate. Disney Rewards Visa card is offered with a promotional 0% APR for the 6 consecutive billing periods after a qualifying purchase of Disney Vacation package. This promotion is only valid if the account is not past due within the month of the purchase. MARRIOTT REWARDS VISA SIGNATURE CREDIT CARD

Features of the Marriott Rewards Visa Signature Card

This is a Signature Visa credit card offered by Chase on the basis of the cardholder’s creditworthiness. It is accepted wherever Visa cards are and allows the owner to participate in the reward point programme of Marriott Hotels. There is no annual fee for the first year of membership. Afterwards, the annual membership fee is $30.

As usual the interest charged on any transactions is dependable on the annual percentage rate chosen by the bank. It is different for purchases and balance transfers than cash advances. For the first two types of transactions the annual percentage rate (APR) is 14.24%. However, for cash advances and overdraft advances the APR is 5% higher. These percentages are based the prime rate posted in the money section of The Wall Street Journal. Any change in the prime rate will result in change of the annual percentage rates.

A very important note is that Chase allows cardholders to avoid paying interest on their purchases and transactions if by the minimum payment due date the cardholders are paid their whole previous balance. However, the bank is using payment allocation, which means that avoiding the interest may not be possible, if the bank allocates the payment from one balance to another. The balances with the highest annual percentage rate are paid first.

If the cardholder fails to submit at least the total minimum payment on the date it is due or the payment have been rejected and returned, a penalty APR will be imposed. It is 29.99% and will continue to apply to all outstanding balances until payments are made on time for 6 consecutive billing periods right after the late payment.

Along with the penalty annual percentage rate the account owner is charged with penalty fees for the violations of the cardholder agreement. The cardholder owes $25 for a single late payment and $35 for every additional late payment within 6 months of the previous one. The same method of charging applies to fees for returned check or payments.

Every transaction done through this credit card is charged with a transaction fee. Any types of cash advances are charged with the greater of $10 or 3% of the amount. BRITISH AIRWAYS SIGNATURE VISA CREDIT CARD

Features of the British Airways Signature Visa Credit Card

This is a different airlines credit card supported by Chase. This credit card is offered on basis of the applicant’s creditworthiness for $95 annual membership fee. The interest charged every month is calculated using annual percentage rates. These rates are basically a sum of a constant percentage, chosen by the bank, and the prime rate. The prime rate is the highest loan rate, which can be found in the money section of The Wall Street Journal. It is a subject of change which means that it will be responsible for any changes that occur in the annual percentage rates. The annual percentage rates are different for the different types of transactions. For instance, the APR for purchases and balance transfers is 14.24%, which is the sum of the prime rate and 10.99%. However, for cash advances and other types of advances such as overdrafts this rate is higher – 19.24%.

There is another type of annual percentage rate which is applicable when there is a case of a violation of terms in the cardholder agreement. It is a form of penalty rate and is 29.99%. If a late payment or returned payment occurs the penalty rate becomes applicable indefinitely. The penalty rate is also imposed when there is an excess of the credit limit on the credit card or other account or loan supported by Chase.

In cases of violation of the terms in the agreement the bank imposes penalty fees as well. They are dependable on the type of violation. If the cardholder misses or delays a payment and go over the due date of the billing cycle, a late payment fee is $25. However, if the cardholder repeats the violation within 6 billing cycles, the next fee will be $35. The same is the case if Chase returns a payment unprocessed or a check has not been honoured.

One of the promotional benefits of this credit card is that the foreign transactions done through it are free of charge. For the other types of transactions, as cash advances and balance transfers the fee is the largest of $10 or 5% of the amount in the transaction.

All the bonus miles earned through the BA Signature Visa are transferred to the Exclusive Club account. With the British Airways Signature Visa Credit Card cardholders participate in the bonus miles rewarding program. For every dollar spent on net purchases of British Airways services, 2.5 bonus miles are collected. Additionally, every other dollar of net purchases will accumulate 1.25 BA miles. Every cardholder receives 25000 BA bonus miles after their first purchase. This is for new accounts only and these miles can be redeemed for one domestic reward flight with BA or their partner airlines. Another 25000 bonus miles can be collected if within the first 3 months after opening of the account the card owner reaches $2500 of net purchases. Again, this is a bonus promotion for new cardholders only.

UNITED MILEAGE PLUS EXPLORER CREDIT CARD

Features of the United Mileage Plus Explorer Credit Card

This is another credit card powered by Chase which offers participation in the program of earning bonus miles when using it. The company also has dropped the annual membership fee for the first year, after that the fee is $95. The United Mileage Plus Explorer Credit Card is presented in 2 types – Signature and Platinum. The applicants are first considered for Signature credit card and if not accepted will be offered a Platinum card.

As most of the credit cards the annual percentage rate is a summation of the highest primer loan rate listed in The Wall Street Journal and a fixed percentage. For purchases this is 10.99%, so that the APR will be 14.24%. The same is the case with annual percentage rate for balance transfers. To get the APR for cash advances and overdraft advances just add the prime rate to 15.99%, and the result is 19.24%. One very important point is that the prime rate is a variable which means that any increase or decrease of the prime rate will result in change in the annual percentage rates. This will appear on the billing statement, but the bank keeps the right to change the rates or terms of the cardholder agreement without a notice.

Indefinite penalty annual percentage rate will be imposed in cases of breach of the cardholder agreement by the cardholder’s part. Payment that is overdue, check or payment which has been returned and not honoured is considered breaches of terms. The penalty APR is 29.99% and will be applied also in case that such breaches occur in another account that the cardholder has with Chase.

Besides the penalty APR these types of violations of the cardholder agreement are penal by penalty fees. If the card owner fails to meet the due date of his/her payment he owes a penalty fee dependable on the balance he/she has. The fees are as follows:

FEE              BALANCE

$15              less than $100

$25              between $100 and $250

$35              over $250

If the cardholder has a check or payment which had been returned and not processed he/she needs to pay a fee in the amount of $25 and $35 for every other same violation within 6 billing cycles. Owners of Signature credit cards are freed of over-the-credit-limit fee, for the others it is up to $35.

These credit cards are subject to transaction fees as well. Every balance transfer will be charged will the greater of $5 or 3% of the amount in question. Additional 5000 bonus miles can be earned if within two billing cycles after opening of the account the cardholder and an authorized user make purchases or balance transfers with the card. These two promotions are one-time offers and are valid for new card owners only.

The United Mileage Plus Explorer Credit Card will accumulate 1 bonus mile with every dollar spent on net purchases with the card. When purchases are made directly through United and also for tickets bought from Continental Airlines the cardholder receives an additional 1 mile for $1. It is essential to know that cardholders get bonus miles from net purchases alone.
